It’s the little things in life.

As the saying goes, “It’s the little things in life that matters.” The past few days while doing a large amount of reflecting about life, this saying has popped up in thought and conversation quite a few times.

I strongly believe that it is these little things that makes the difference in how we go about day to day life. For me most of the time, when I recognise that I am feeling down and depressed, I noticed that it is those little things are missing in from my life.

It was not to long ago, when I was travelling with Anna in Ireland and England, she pointed out that my face lit up and I was like a different person. I think that this was because I was being constantly bombarded by a few of my little things such as exploring historical places, checking out the incredible landscape, trying different foods and seeing how different cultures live.

However, back in Australia, the little things are very different. While I still enjoy the meal out or trying a new flavoured ice cream, my favourite escape from reality is either the tennis court or a walk through the neighbourhood.

Unfortunately due to the fact that I have been restricted in movement by a back injury, I have not been able to get onto to the tennis court to train and the walking has been extremely limited.

I understand that everyone is different when it comes to the little things but the reasoning behind the little things remain the same. Some people like gardening, others might be getting a massage / facial, or some might like to listen to music or even rain on a tin roof, while others like to knit or cook / bake.

But Because I haven’t been able to do these things, I have come to realise just how important they are. So I guess there really is only one thing to say……. I guess the little things in life really do matter.
