Happy Birthday Mum

I woke up this morning to find two old memories from 2010 on Facebook.

The first post was wishing my mum a happy birthday. It only took me and six of my friends fingers and toes to count my mum’s age.

The second post was the good thing about my mum’s age is that she will no longer find any more grey hairs as the are all grey hairs now.

I always loved picking on my mum on her birthday about her age. Whenever I used to poke fun at my mum, I would always follow it up by blowing a gigantic raspberry on her cheek as I gave her a big hug, which she would always make a poor attempt of disgust and disapproval even though she knew it was coming.

I think mum always cherished those moments. You see, in our family, it was mum who was the glue of the family. Always bringing and keeping the family together.

I strongly believe that mum was the most compassionate and family orientated person in our family. I can see how important these traits were to mum as they were passed down to all the Green family siblings.

After spending time with Alison and her family in Singapore recently, I could easily tell that these wonderful traits have been passed down another generation.

Anyway, I didn’t fully understand just how much mum was the glue in our family until sadly after she was gone.

I truely miss having mum around to pick on her birthday and creating more memories. I think about you everyday and I hope I do you proud and your memory with honour. I love you mum. Happy Birthday.
