Shanghai Update

My deepest apologies for not writing lately. A lot has happened recently. So let me update things….

After a beautiful night at the 5 star Peace Hotel on the Bund with great company, myself and 5 other staff members were struck down with food poisoning. This allowed me to have an extraordinary amount of bonding time with the toilet over the next 7 days. I have never suffered anything like that before in my life. My medicine was not even slowing things down and food and fluids were going right through me.

School has also started for me now. I have gone through the orientation phase which was more of a pat on the back and see how amazing we are type of thing. But seemingly, I was able to get to set up my room and organise my schedule while trying to wrap my head around the curriculum. I still feel rather lost with the later one but for the moment I will just wing it.

Another thing about school is that they are very big on using wechat. It is used for everything from communicating with teachers and parents, point scores, school photos, accidents and teacher social events. On average I receive approximately 450+ messages per day which does get a little annoying. As most do not relate to me.

Another milestone this week was the opening of my bank account. I finally got my bank account sorted out. So now I will have a place for my first pay to go into. The other benefit is that I am now able to get wepay in use. This allows about 99% of the Chinese markets and shops to open up to me. This is due to China 🇨🇳 being a mostly cashless society.
