Calamvale Hotel

After a long day and feeling way to lazy to chuck one of my frozen lean cuisine meals into the microwave, it was decided that the easiest option was to head to the Calamvale Hotel for dinner.

For me, I like this place because of one particular dish that they have on the menu. This dish is…… GUINNESS PIE!!!!

Ever since travelling to Ireland 🇮🇪 in 2018 and visiting the famous Brazen Head Pub in Dublin (3rd oldest pub in the world) I have become addicted to Beef and Guinness stew and Guinness Pie.

However, tonight’s meal would be no different from my usual meal there. It was always going to be Guinness pie with mash potato.

While it is definitely a wonderful, warm and filling winters day food, I just can’t help myself, no matter which country I am in, but to try it when I see it on the menu. It must be my Irish Heritage 😉.

I do have to have to say, that this is the second or third best Guinness pie I have ever had. The top position goes to the Brazen Head, but they have had since 1198 A.D. to get the recipe right.

Corbett and Claude

On a casual Sunday lunchtime, Anna and I decided to head out for a bit to eat after a great hitting session of tennis. We stopped in at Corbett & Claude at Garden City.

This just happens to be one of my favourite places to dine. The food here is always delicious plus the atmosphere is relaxing. The staff are always friendly and they offer great service. I always feel full after I dining here.

Anyway, my choice of food today was the Pan-fried gnocchi with mushrooms and a creamy white sauce. This was washed down with a refreshing cranberry juice and sparkling water.

While Anna had her wood fire margarita pizza, which just happens to be her favourite type of pizza.

For dessert, I decided to spoil myself with a warm chocolate brownie with caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I do have to warn you that the chocolate brownie is pretty sweet but it is still delicious.
