Day 3

Today started with a nice sleep in followed by a casual walk through Nanjing street Mall as I went looking for manchester and china ware for the apartment. Along the way, I found myself being the target for scammers and shop scouts that try to get you to enter their shops. I really felt like I had a big red bullseye target on me. I must have had at least 20 people approach me within a kilometre. I did find some manchester but I didn’t buy anything until I was sure of the bed sizes. however, it did give me a good idea on prices and what I am looking for.

After window shopping and a little exploring, I headed back to the hotel to eat some fruit that I had bought and to have a rest. While at the hotel I received a message from Ryan the Agent to tell me that there was a problem with the apartment. The problem was that the landlord had changed the price from RMB6500 to RMB7500 and was demanding 1 month bond and 3 months rent upfront. Further to this, the landlord was also refusing to add a bed to the apartment. This was rather upsetting and annoying. Ryan the agent continued to speak to the landlord but could only get the landlord to reduce the price to RMB7300.

The whole apartment thing has turned into something of a headache. After intially feeling annoyed and upset by these events, I decided I needed to have a plan B in place. So with the help of Ryan the agent, we came up with a plan B…. walking away from  apartment A and look at another apartment that had just popped up on the rental market.

By the time 11.45pm rolled around, I made the decision to make an appointment with Ryan the agent to view the plan B place for Thursday afternoon at 2pm. I just feel that this apartment is the better option for me. It is seems to be a nicer place, the rent is a little cheaper and a lot less hassle with dealing with the landlord. Currently I am 99.99% sure that I will go with plan B apartment but I still wish to view the apartment before accepting it. But I also know that there is another person interested in this place who will see the place after me. This means that my decision will need to be made on the spot but I feel I know what my decision will be.
